State audit is vested in the State Comptroller.
State Audit§
Duty to Supply Information§
A body subject to the audit of the State Comptroller shall supply the Comptroller, without delay, upon the Comptroller's demand, with information, documents, explanations and any other material which the Comptroller considers necessary for the purposes of the audit.
Public Complaints§
The State Comptroller shall investigate complaints from the public concerning bodies and persons as shall be prescribed by or under law; in performing this function the State Comptroller shall serve under the title "Public Complaints Commissioner".
Additional Functions§
The State Comptroller shall perform additional functions as shall be prescribed by law.
Accountability to the Knesset§
In performing the Comptroller's functions, the State Comptroller shall be accountable to the Knesset alone and shall not be dependent on the Government.
Election and Term of Office§
Eligibility§
Every Israeli citizen who is a resident of Israel is eligible to be a candidate for the office of State Comptroller; a law may prescribe additional eligibility requirements.
Oath of Allegiance§
The elected State Comptroller shall declare and sign before the Knesset the following oath of allegiance:
"I undertake to bear allegiance to the State of Israel and its laws and to faithfully fulfil my functions as State Comptroller."
Budget§
The budget of the Office of the State Comptroller shall be determined, upon the proposal of the State Comptroller, by the Finance Committee of the Knesset, and shall be published together with the State budget.
Salary and Benefits§
The salary of the State Comptroller and other payments to be made to the Comptroller during or after the term of office, or to the Comptroller's survivors after the Comptroller's death, shall be prescribed by law or by a decision of the Knesset or of a committee thereof empowered by the Knesset for that purpose.

Removal from Office§
The State Comptroller shall not be removed from office except in one of the following cases:
Acting Comptroller§
If the State Comptroller is incapacitated from performing the Comptroller's functions, an Acting Comptroller shall be appointed in the manner and for the period to be prescribed by law.
