The Twenty-Ninth of Heshvan – Sigd Holiday§

1.

(*a) The Knesset hereby declares the twenty-ninth of Heshvan to be Sigd Holiday, to be celebrated each and every year as a national holiday and to be called "Sigd Holiday"; should the twenty-ninth of Heshvan fall on the Sabbath, Sigd Holiday shall be celebrated on the Thursday preceding it.

(b)Sigd Holiday is a day of choice; in this section, "day of choice" means a day on which the employee may choose to take leave or to work; should the employee choose the day as a day of leave, the day shall be counted against his leave days.
(c)The Minister of Education shall prescribe educational activities to be dedicated to Sigd Holiday.

Central Assembly§

2.

The Minister of Science, Culture and Sport shall direct that a central assembly be held to open Sigd Holiday.

Provisions Regarding Employees§

3.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Employment, after consulting with the Minister of Science, Culture and Sport, may prescribe the categories of employees and the categories of work and services that are not to be interrupted on Sigd Holiday, and may also prescribe the hours and arrangements that shall apply on that day.

Symbols of Sigd Holiday§

4.

The Minister of Science, Culture and Sport may prescribe symbols for Sigd Holiday and regulate their use.
