Definitions§

1.

In this Law, "public authority" means the State and its institutions, a local authority, an official educational institution within the meaning of the Compulsory Education Law, 5709-1949, a recognised institution of higher education, a corporation established by law, and a government company.

Indication of the Hebrew Date§

2.

The Hebrew date shall be indicated in every official letter in the Hebrew language sent by a public authority, and in every official public notice in the Hebrew language published on its behalf.

Indication of the Secular Date§

3.

The secular date shall be indicated in addition to the Hebrew date.

Administrative Guidelines§

4.

A public authority shall prescribe provisions regarding the use of the Hebrew date in official notices and documents issued by it, by means of administrative guidelines.

Application§

5.

The provisions of this Law shall not apply to a local authority the majority of whose residents are not Jewish, nor to an official educational institution or a recognised institution of higher education in which the language of instruction is not Hebrew.

Commencement§

6.

This Law shall commence six months from the day of its publication.
