Definitions§
In this Law –
"alternative civil cemetery" means a civil cemetery in which burial shall be carried out in accordance with a person's worldview;
"the Minister" means the Minister for Religious Affairs.
Burial in a Civil Cemetery§
A person is entitled to be buried in accordance with his worldview in an alternative civil cemetery if he has so chosen; the choice may be made by will or in any other manner.
Preservation of the Dignity of the Deceased§
Burial shall be conducted with preservation of the dignity of the deceased.
Designation of a Site for a Civil Cemetery§
Corporation for Burial Affairs§
An alternative civil cemetery shall be managed by a corporation for burial affairs.
Implementation and Regulations§
The Minister is responsible for the implementation of this Law and shall make Regulations for its implementation, including Regulations for the licensing of corporations for burial affairs and the determination of burial procedures.
Application§
The provisions of the Public Health Ordinance, 1940, and the Jewish Religious Services Law [Consolidated Version], 5731-1971, shall apply to this Law, with the necessary modifications.
