Purpose§
The purpose of this Law is to establish an annual day for the commemoration of the Farhud events, during which pogroms and a massacre were perpetrated against the Jews of Baghdad and their property was plundered, during the Shavuot holiday, on the 6th and 7th of Sivan 5701 (1 and 2 June 1941), in order to perpetuate the memory of the victims and to instil in the public the memory of the Farhud events as part of the history of the Jewish people.
